Job Description
As a Prototype Technician, you will play a critical role in bringing our UAS electronics from design to reality. You will be responsible for the precise assembly, rework, and validation of complex prototype PCBs used in flight-critical and mission-critical systems. Your craftsmanship and technical expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of our airborne platforms.
This role requires exceptional hands-on skills in fine-pitch soldering, rework, and component-level troubleshooting, combined with a strong understanding of electronics assemblies. In addition to manual assembly, you will operate and further develop our in-house prototyping capabilities, including our pick-and-place (PnP) machine, to build small prototype and pre-series batches efficiently and with high quality. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers during bring-up and validation phases, contributing practical feedback to improve design robustness and manufacturability. In our fast-paced development environment, you will be a key enabler of rapid iteration cycles and high-quality hardware releases.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
• Assemble complex prototype PCBs with exceptional precision and quality, including fine-pitch SMD components (e.g., QFN, BGA, 0402/0201)
• Perform high-quality soldering, rework, and component replacement on multilayer boards
• Professionally use hot air rework stations and related equipment for precise component removal and replacement
• Operate and program the in-house pick-and-place (PnP) machine for prototype and small pre-series builds
• Prepare stencils, apply solder paste, and manage reflow processes for high-reliability assemblies
• Inspect assembled boards using microscopes and measurement tools to ensure the highest quality standards
• Support hardware engineers during bring-up, debugging, and validation of prototypes
• Identify and resolve assembly-related issues, providing feedback to improve PCB design and manufacturability
• Maintain and organize component inventory for prototyping and small-batch production
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of in-house prototyping capabilities and workflows
