We’re seeking a Propulsion Technician with friction stir welding expertise to support the fabrication of novel propellant tanks and the assembly and testing of innovative propulsion systems in Rockville, MD.
This role is primarily focused on friction stir welding, with opportunities to support propulsion system assembly, integration, and testing as needed.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
Fabricate novel propellant tanks using friction stir welding
Support assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion and spacecraft systems
Maintain propulsion ground support equipment
Collaborate with propulsion engineers to ensure designs are buildable and testable
What It Takes
Hands-on friction stir welding experience (required)
3+ years of relevant experience for Propulsion Technician II
7+ years of relevant experience for Propulsion Technician III
Relevant Experience:
Friction Stir Welding
TIG Welding
Orbital Welding
Tube Bending
Precision Assembly
High-Pressure Systems
Chemical Handling (including propellants)
Polymeric Bonding
Cleanroom Operations
Ability to troubleshoot effectively in high-stress situations.
Willingness to relocate to within commuting distance of Rockville, MD.
Willingness to work occasional swing and night shifts for short periods of time (usually less than a week).
Ability to work in an environment with changing priorities and tasks.
Nice-to-Have Experience
TIG welding of pressure vessels or AWS D17.1 certification
Crane and manlift operations
Propellant loading operations in Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE)
Experience working in a start-up or fast-paced R&D environment.
