Job Description – Proposals Manager
Reports to: Head of Sales
Job Description You will lead a team dedicated to preparing compelling proposals to purchase crystallisation and evaporation plants for the battery chemicals and recycling industry. The proposals should contain sufficient technical and commercial information to provide a logical business case to our customers and assist their evaluation process. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Sales support: meet and correspond frequently with other members of the sales team to ensure proposals are tailored to meet a customer’s particular requirements. Attend key presentations to customers where scope, cost and technical content may need to be adjusted to obtain a winning offer.
• Bid compliance: Review client specifications and bid requirements to identify areas of technical and commercial concern that should be addressed in our estimate and proposal.
• Technical support: Work closely with the process design and engineering teams to ensure the process designs and layouts that they prepare are the most appropriate for the inquiry.
• Estimates. Prepare estimates based using agreed templates for firm, budget and feasibility offers.
• Tender estimates Ensure that the estimates for tenders reflect current units cost for materials and fabrication and are based on sufficient vendor quotes to obtain an accurate overall cost which may be reviewed and critiqued by a tender review panel.
• Pre-award clarifications prepare technical bid evaluation and clarification responses and participate in the clarification meetings as necessary.
• Innovation. Seek to improve the speed and accuracy of proposal preparation by optimisation or other initiatives
• Operations & customer follow up. Participate in the job handover process once a job is won and liaise with the Operations team for good communication and feedback. Whilst you are not responsible for the final gross margin of projects, you should take an interest in their successful completion Skills and Experience:
• Graduate degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Process engineering
• At least fifteen years of professional experience in the relevant industry and at least ten years of experience in preparing major proposals tenders
• An ability to write clear and concise technical proposals
• In depth understanding of project costs with the ability to coordinate the preparation of detailed estimates of process plant
• Experience with understanding conceptual layout of process plants, PFDs and P&IDs would be beneficial
• Experience in the mining or minerals processing industries would be beneficial
• A proactive and positive attitude focused on the development of the Company’s business and the support of fellow staff throughout pre-award and execution, working cooperatively and constructively within a culturally diverse team environment
• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
