Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Property Damage Claims Adjuster to join our law firm. This role requires extensive expertise in evaluating and managing property damage claims, preferably gained from insurance companies or claims-handling environments. You will leverage your adjusting background to strategically assess losses, prepare defensible estimates, communicate with carriers, and advocate for fair compensation on behalf of our clients.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and confident in navigating complex property damage scenarios while providing exceptional service to clients and supporting our attorneys.
Key Responsibilities
Claim Evaluation & Investigation
Conduct comprehensive investigations of property damage claims, assessing causation, scope of loss, and overall impact.
Review and analyze documentation, photos, repair estimates, and supporting evidence.
Identify inconsistencies, undervaluations, or improper denials based on industry standards and policy interpretation.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with clients to collect necessary documents, understand the incident, and manage expectations throughout the claims process.
Communicate and coordinate with insurance adjusters, carriers, repair vendors, and third-party stakeholders to support claim development.
Provide clear guidance to clients on required documentation, timelines, and communication workflows.
Assessment, Reporting & Documentation
Prepare accurate and professional damage assessments, repair estimates, and summary reports.
Present findings to attorneys, clients, and insurance representatives in a clear, defensible, and well-organized manner.
Maintain thorough and compliant documentation of all claim-related activities and communications.
Negotiation & Claim Resolution
Negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters, ensuring fair valuation and appropriate interpretation of policy coverage.
Advocate for clients by identifying opportunities to strengthen claims and address undervalued or disputed assessments.
Track and manage claim timelines from intake to resolution, ensuring timely follow-up and proactive case handling.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with attorneys, case managers, and other internal teams to support legal strategy and strengthen case outcomes.
Provide subject-matter expertise related to property claims, insurance coverage issues, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required for strong experience).
5–8 years of experience as a Property Damage Claims Adjuster, Insurance Adjuster, or similar role handling property damage claims.
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong understanding of property insurance policies, adjusting procedures, and claims workflows.
Proven ability to evaluate damages, prepare accurate estimates, and negotiate settlements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for clients.
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating tools such as Xactimate is a plus.
