Quick Summary

A Project Manager is responsible for managing innovative vaccine development projects, building strong collaborations, and driving the development of new vaccine concepts within a mission-driven organization.

Job Description

Are you motivated by managing innovative vaccine development projects and building strong collaborations across academia and industry in a mission‑driven organisation? Then you might be our new Project Manager.

About us

NIVI Development (NIVI‑D) is a mission‑driven organisation that brings together researchers, developers, and strategic partners to move innovative vaccine concepts into clinical development. As part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI), we operate within a uniquely integrated ecosystem that connects academic discovery with vaccine development. Working closely with the academic Research centre (NIVI‑R), we translate new scientific insights into vaccine candidates that support NIVI’s vision of preventing airborne epidemics. As NIVI‑D, our mission is to advance their development toward clinical impact.

The job

As our new Project Manager, you will contribute to a growing portfolio of vaccine development projects and play a key role in shaping how NIVI‑D delivers on its mission. A major initial focus will be to manage a new, EU–funded consortium to develop a novel vaccine candidate for pandemic influenza. In this programme, you will act as the central Project Manager coordinating work with several European partners including local clinical and academic partners. You will also be expected to contribute to other new NIVI-D vaccine development projects.

Your work will span project planning, implementation, risk and financial oversight, and ensuring strong alignment across a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders. You will help establish best‑practice project governance models and contribute to building project management standards, processes, and organisational capabilities in NIVI‑D. The role requires close collaboration with both academic and industry partners, and you will play an active part in building a thriving vaccines R&D ecosystem in Denmark.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Be Project Manager of the NOFLU EU PCP programme, coordinating deliverables, timelines, reporting, and financial oversight across multiple European partners.
• Develop and maintain strong collaborations with academic partners within NIVI and with industrial collaborators, navigating different cultures and working styles.
• Manage planning, budgeting, risk management and reporting for additional NIVI‑D vaccine development projects.
• Help strengthen and develop PMO practices, processes, and tools across NIVI.

About you

You are an experienced project manager who thrives in dynamic, cross‑functional environments and enjoys working with diverse stakeholders. You are comfortable navigating scientific or technical contexts, collaborating closely with academic and industry partners, and keeping projects on track through structured planning and proactive problem‑solving. You build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and approach challenges with a solution‑oriented mindset. At your core, you are organised, adaptable, and motivated by contributing to a mission‑driven organisation where collaboration and initiative make a tangible difference.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of project management experience. Candidates with vaccine development experience from biotech, pharma, or public‑health settings are preferred.
• Proven track record with international project execution and multi‑partner collaborations.
• Experience across clinical development phases, especially early phases (I–II), preferably with exposure to full development lifecycles and vaccine development.
• Familiarity with PMI‑type project management practices and proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar planning tools.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills, including navigating academic–industry interfaces.
• A proactive mindset and structured working style.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

We offer

Joining NIVI‑D gives you the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovative vaccine development in a growing vaccines R&D ecosystem in Denmark. You will become part of a highly collaborative environment with strong ties to academic partners and international collaborators. As an evolving organization, we offer a dynamic, mission‑driven workplace with room to shape how we work and contribute directly to innovative projects with real public‑health impact.

Our employment package includes pension and health benefits, generous vacation time, and the many advantages of living and working in Copenhagen.
