Firma Contracting is a leading civil contracting company that works across western Canada. We currently have an exciting opportunity to work with our project management team as a Project Manager in Saskatoon.
The Project Manager is responsible for project scopes such as budget, schedule, resource allocation, client relations and quality management for the job. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in managing civil projects, demonstrates a natural aptitude for leadership and collaborations, and is meticulous in their process.
Roles and Responsibilities Overview
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
Oversight of all primary targets and planning for the project to ensure services provided comply with the specified requirements.
Manage project activities throughout the life cycle of the project, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, and budgets.
Prepare reports, including but not limited to project progress reports, results achieved reports, lesson learned documentation and recommendations for improvement documentation.
Plan and execute project communications ensuring timely and accurate distribution of information, documentation, and issue resolution to all stakeholders.
Utilization of project management platforms.
Management of building project plans from inception, implementing structure and processes from the ground up to ensure project success.
Lead, facilitate and communicate effective project meetings, and meeting notes to the project team at the end of the meetings.
Provide feedback and communication; establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with project stakeholders.
Ensure project and contract activities, deliverables, milestones, timelines, and financial commitments are tracked, and commitments are being fulfilled.
Rigorous management of all contractual obligations.
Verification of subcontractor prequalification for all subtrades.
Provide regular reporting and updates on the projects to the management team.
Achieve the project budget and complete accurate monthly forecasts.
Act as primary liaison with owner / client, contractors, municipality, and other project stakeholders.
Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the team through their efforts to produce deliverables according to specification.
Prepare & execute contracts and negotiate revisions.
Prepare and submit applications to local municipality, utility owners and other stakeholders as required.
Manage change order requests from the consultants, general contractor, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Preparation and maintenance of the project budget and schedule.
Plan and execute building occupancy and project cashflow. Create and prepare project summary for stakeholders (schedule, cost, and profitability forecasting).
Complete inspections of all underground and earthworks activities.
Complete inspections for earthworks including subbase inspections, fill material verification, other work completed prior to backfill authorizations, and backfilling operations
Review work against project specifications and coordination for acceptance
Complete and verify other inspections and tests for project work scopes
Coordinate with the client on project specific activities, including inspections and review of documentation for final acceptance.
Ensure procedures are established to provide traceability from initial order to field installation.
Responsible for documentation review, analysis, and maintenance during quality management system implementation including various reports, logs, turnover documentation.
Support the implementation of NCR required from audit findings, in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Support the development and implementation of the Project Quality Plan.
Develop written plans and procedures for project specific activities to supplement task planning.
Create and ensure compliance to ITPs and maintain the supporting documentation.
Control and manage document control process for Quality and Project documents
Create and maintain punch list, deficiencies and walkthrough packages.
Conduct construction and final walkthroughs
Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft during scope execution to ensure understanding and compliance
Work with project management team to handle problems of a technical nature arising during construction by issuing RFIs and technical queries
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications Overview
Education
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a degree in Engineering or CET diploma
We would also consider equivalent experience or accredited training programs
Experience
3+ years of project management experience is required
3+ years of civil quality management experience is required
Ability to read plans/blueprints and specifications
Familiarity working on a construction site is required
Personable and great at building relationships
Familiar with plans, drawings and using platforms like Blue Beam
Adept with budget management
Proficient with MS Project and MS Office
Impeccable attention to detail
Highly organized and efficient with managing deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
