Job Description
Position Overview
BoxHouse is seeking an experienced Project Manager Professional (PMP) to lead complex, cross-functional projects supporting overseas manufacturing operations in China, with a strong focus on steel structures, metal fabrication, and welded assemblies.
This role is central to ensuring BoxHouse modular building components are delivered on time, on budget, and to our quality standards—while coordinating engineering, supply chain, quality, and international manufacturing partners. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with factories, understands fabrication realities, and can bridge design intent with shop-floor execution.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
Lead end-to-end project planning for modular building components, from design release through production and shipment. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource allocations, ensuring internal teams and overseas suppliers meet cost, quality, and delivery targets. Establish clear workflows, communication protocols, and performance expectations to drive accountability across all stakeholders.
Overseas Manufacturing & Supplier Management
Serve as the primary liaison with China-based metal fabrication shops, contract manufacturers, and suppliers. Coordinate tooling, fixtures, pilot builds, engineering changes, and production ramp-ups while maintaining structured communication across time zones and multilingual environments. Build strong relationships with factory leadership and technical teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Partner closely with engineering, quality, procurement, logistics, and construction teams to support design-for-manufacturing (DFM), cost-reduction initiatives, and process improvements. Organize regular project reviews, supplier calls, and executive updates. Capture lessons learned, recommend workflow enhancements, and drive standardization across BoxHouse’s overseas fabrication programs.
Quality, Risk & Compliance
Identify and mitigate risks related to fabrication tolerances, weld quality, coatings, lead times, and logistics. Support factory audits, quality inspections, and onsite production visits. Ensure all components comply with drawings, specifications, welding standards, and customer requirements, and track issues to drive corrective actions and maintain compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications
PMP certification (active and in good standing).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field.
5+ years of project management experience, with direct responsibility for overseas or China-based manufacturing.
Experience managing suppliers or contract manufacturers producing structural or fabricated components.
Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, production scheduling, and supply chains.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with metal fabrication, structural steel, and welded assemblies.
Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, FCAW), fabrication tolerances, and inspection requirements.
Familiarity with weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and shop travelers.
Experience with surface treatments and finishes (galvanizing, powder coating, painting).
Experience in modular construction, prefabricated buildings, or structural systems.
Familiarity with quality systems and documentation (ISO 9001, ITPs, NCRs).
Mandarin language skills (preferred but not required).
Willingness to travel internationally (typically 10–25%).
