Employment Type: Exempt, Full-Time, Year-Round
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (hours will vary based on project needs and the time of year)
About the Role
Central Specialties, Inc. is seeking a driven Project Manager to oversee heavy highway and civil construction projects from bid award through final completion. This role requires a strong balance of field presence, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of assigned construction projects, including budget, schedule, subcontractors, and materials.
Oversee project setup, progress tracking, and closeout documentation.
Collaborate with Field Supervisors, and Executive Leadership to align project goals and performance metrics.
Review subcontractor agreements, change orders, and project invoices.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor work progress, safety compliance, and quality standards.
Maintain effective communication with owners, inspectors, and internal teams.
Lead project meetings and prepare reports summarizing progress, issues, and cost performance.
Support continuous improvement and adherence to company safety, environmental, and quality programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5 years of project management experience in heavy civil, highway, or infrastructure construction is preferred.
Strong Microsoft skills, including Excel and Word.
Proficiency in construction scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.
Strong understanding of DOT specifications and construction materials (aggregate, asphalt, grading, utilities).
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with HCSS Heavy Job, or similar project management and estimating software.
Experience with Minnesota, North/South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska DOT projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
