Required Skills
Job Description
Most general contractors say they're relationship-driven. Our client has the receipts — client partnerships spanning more than two decades, a national footprint built on delivering results in retail environments where schedules don't have room for excuses, and a reputation that's made them a go-to GC for retail rollouts across the country. They're a proud member of the Retail Contractors Association, they leverage technology from digital plan collaboration to 3D virtual job sites, and they operate with a service mentality that runs from pre-construction straight through post-opening maintenance. If you've lived in the fast-track retail world and know how to keep a compressed schedule moving without losing the client relationship, this is a role worth a serious look.
What You'll Own
• Drive commercial retail construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, owning the schedule, budget, and client relationship end-to-end
• Manage fast-track timelines with precision — coordinating trades, deliveries, and inspections to hit aggressive open dates without sacrificing quality
• Serve as the primary client-facing point of contact on active projects, maintaining the partnership-first approach the organization is known for
• Lead pre-construction activities including preliminary scheduling, budget development, risk identification, and scope review
• Oversee subcontractor performance, holding teams accountable to schedule milestones and quality standards
• Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation with consistency and accuracy
• Coordinate with in-house teams and national network partners — architects, engineers, and specialty consultants — across concurrent project activity
• Support post-completion service and maintenance follow-through as part of the full project lifecycle
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Project Manager on fast-track commercial retail construction — this is a retail-specialized role; healthcare and K–12 backgrounds alone will not be a fit
• Demonstrated ability to manage compressed construction schedules in live or occupied retail environments
• Multi-site or national rollout experience is a strong differentiator
• Pre-construction involvement — budgeting, scheduling, scope development — beyond execution-only roles
• Local presence in the Twin Cities metro area; candidates must be Minnesota-based or actively relocating
• Strong client communication skills and the ability to manage owner expectations in high-pressure delivery environments
• Proficiency with construction technology platforms; comfort with digital collaboration tools is expected
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered
Benefits:
• Base salary: $95,000–$130,000 depending on experience, with stronger retail rollout backgrounds compensated at the higher end
• Performance bonus potential: 5–15% tied to project margin, schedule delivery, and client outcomes
• Total compensation potential up to $145,000 for the right candidate
• Additional benefits details to be confirmed and provided to qualified candidates prior to submission
