Project Manager at Bonny Doon, California, for a company that builds clean energy infrastructure, requiring a solutions-first mindset and structured execution.
Required Skills
Job Description
The energy transition is happening now — and our client is building the infrastructure that makes it real. A vertically integrated clean energy company operating across engineering, construction, and long-term asset management, they don't just build solar and storage projects: they originate, design, construct, and operate them with full lifecycle accountability. This is a team that thinks like operators and executes like builders.
They're looking for a Project Manager who thrives on structured execution, owns their projects end-to-end, and brings a solutions-first mindset to every challenge. If you're energized by complex, high-stakes clean energy construction and want to grow inside an organization that's scaling fast and promoting from within, this is the role.
What You'll Own
• Full project lifecycle management for commercial solar PV and battery storage projects — from permitting and contracts through construction, closeout, and handoff
• Financial oversight including monthly billing, cost tracking, budget forecasting, and weekly financial reviews; managing CSI and job coding accuracy throughout
• Subcontractor coordination and procurement support — running construction meetings, drafting agreements, supporting buyout, and partnering with field teams to stay ahead of risk
• RFI and change order management, client communications, and OAC coordination to keep all stakeholders aligned and projects moving
• Pre-construction support including RFP/RFQ responses and scope distribution alongside the estimating team
• Driving documentation discipline across Jonas Premier, Smartsheet, MS Project, and Slack so nothing falls through the cracks
Requirements:
• 2+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction — solar, storage, MEP, or technical construction background preferred
• Fluency in the full project delivery cycle: permits, inspections, scheduling, procurement, billing, and closeout
• Financial acumen — you're comfortable owning a budget, tracking costs, and surfacing variances before they become problems
• Strong working knowledge of MEP trades and building permit processes
• Proficiency with Google Suite, MS Office, Smartsheet; exposure to Jonas Premier a plus
• A "whatever it takes" approach — you wear multiple hats without complaint and find solutions before escalating problems
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
• Must be local to or willing to work on-site in the Greater Monterey Bay Area — relocation candidates not considered
Benefits:
• $80,500–$95,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
• Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, EAP, and 401(k)
• Unlimited PTO after your first year (1 week after 6 months)
• 42 hours of paid continuing education annually
• $1,000 professional development stipend per year
• Cell phone and laptop reimbursement
• A culture built on accountability, healthy debate, and genuine investment in your growth
