For more than 50 years, we have been at the forefront of nuclear innovation, delivering safe, sustainable, and forward-thinking solutions in fuel cycle technology and waste management. Our reputation is built on engineering excellence, strategic collaboration, and a strong commitment to solving complex challenges for clients around the world.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Project Engineer at NAC International, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of complex engineering projects within the nuclear fuel cycle. Working closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and cross‑functional teams, you will contribute to the design, analysis, licensing, and operation of safety‑related systems and components. This role offers hands-on exposure to regulated nuclear engineering projects and is well suited for an early‑career engineer seeking to build strong technical, regulatory, and project execution skills in a mission‑driven environment.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN:
You’ll support multiple engineering projects from concept through execution by contributing to component and system design, performing engineering analyses, preparing and reviewing licensing and Safety Analysis Report (SAR) documentation, and supporting operational and ancillary system development, including associated software systems. You will also assist with coordination of technical inputs, documentation control, and resource planning across concurrent projects, helping ensure work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Serve as a focal or response point of contact for assigned project activities, coordinating technical inputs and documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Support hardware and system design efforts, including preparation and review of engineering drawings, design calculations, and technical specifications.
• Prepare, review, and maintain licensing and Safety Analysis Report (SAR) documentation to support regulatory compliance.
• Assist in the development of system operations, inspection, maintenance, and support materials.
• Integrate technical performance, fabrication, and quality requirements into assigned component or system designs, and help resolve technical issues with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support design change activities in accordance with established engineering and quality processes.
• Assist with development and tracking of project work breakdown structures and contribute to integrated resource planning.
• Ensure assigned work complies with company procedures, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
• Provide technical support for proposals and marketing initiatives as needed.
• Learn and grow through mentorship, gaining exposure to technical, regulatory, and project execution practices within the nuclear industry.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, or equivalent engineering-related field required.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience accepted).
• Exposure to cask design, spent fuel transport/storage, or other U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission‑regulated industries is preferred.
• Familiarity with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, regulatory guides, applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission Reports (NUREGs), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Codes is a plus.
• Working knowledge of basic project management concepts, scheduling, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally in a highly regulated technical field.
