Role Overview:
Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, the CEL Project Engineer - Production Support role is to provide a seamless, efficient and technically competent interface between the CEL Engineering Department and the CEL Production Department.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Be the main point of contact for the Production Department to interface with the wider engineering team.
• Review and provide answers to technical queries from the production department in relation to the engineering designs.
• Work with the engineering team to resolve outstanding queries from production.
• Attend all production related meetings on behalf of the engineering team.
• Attend the engineering weekly meetings to report on current issues.
• Assist with reviews of new designs.
• Assist with implementation of continuous improvements to the technical designs on an ongoing basis.
• Assist with closing out and creating improvements to raised NCRs
• Manage the creation of projects on ACC, ensuring that all input data is correct at the start of the project.
• Responsible for ensuring that all engineering provided documentation to the Production Department are the latest versions on ACC.
• Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time, to ensure an efficient interface to the Engineering Department.
Requirements:
• A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Alternatively, a time served electrician with strong low voltage switchgear assembly experience will be
• considered for this role.
• Additional training in power systems or switchgear design is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of IEC standards applicable to switchgear (e.g., IEC 61439)
• Knowledge of Form of Separation and internal segregation requirements.
• Understanding of electrical protection principles and power distribution systems.
• Familiarity with MCCs, Package Substations, RPPS systems, and custom LV assemblies.
• Understanding of industry best practices in panel design and safety compliance.
Key Competencies:
• Relevant experience (3-5 years) in electrical design within the switchgear or power distribution industry.
• Strong technical interpretation skills for specifications and tender documents.
• Good understanding of electrical component selection and integration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and structured engineering approach.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
