Job Description
We are looking for a Project Engineer to support commercial electrical construction projects within a self-perform electrical contractor environment, focused on healthcare and institutional work. This is a hands-on support role working directly under Project Managers to assist with project execution, coordination, and documentation across active job sites. The position is designed for individuals with commercial electrical exposure who are ready to grow into full project ownership over time. This role plays a key part in keeping projects organized, on schedule, and aligned with field operations.
Responsibilities
• Support Project Managers in executing commercial electrical projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Assist with project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reporting
• Coordinate with field teams, electricians, and foremen to ensure alignment between plans and execution
• Interface with general contractors, inspectors, and vendors to support project progress and communication
• Review and interpret electrical drawings and specifications to assist with scope and coordination
• Work with estimating teams on takeoffs, scope reviews, and project setup activities
• Coordinate with BIM teams to help resolve design conflicts and ensure field-ready plans
• Track project schedules, materials, and procurement to support timely execution
• Maintain accurate records within project management and ERP systems
Requirements:
• 2–5+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction (Project Engineer, Assistant PM, or similar role)
• Experience working for a commercial electrical contractor or supporting electrical scopes required
• Exposure to project coordination including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and field communication
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and construction documents
• Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, AcuBid, or similar construction software preferred
• Strong interest in growing into a Project Manager role over time
• Must have hands-on involvement in project execution (field-only backgrounds without coordination experience will not be considered)
• Commercial electrical experience required (residential-only or general contractor-only experience will not be sufficient)
