What to Expect
The Project Engineer role is multi-faceted, with its primary focus on delivering engineering expertise to large battery storage sites. Project Engineers lead the design, installation, and commissioning phases of industrial storage projects, driving them to a successful operational state.
Project Engineers are also a key link between Tesla products/projects in the region and the engineering and manufacturing teams based in the United States. It is vital to have the skills to work on a wide range of engineering issues involving a great variety of stakeholders, whilst operating with a high degree of self-sufficiency. Experience with engineering project deployment and a degree of practical experience is also highly beneficial. What You'll Do
Provide engineering support during the contracting phase, offering design and integration recommendations for different applications and project locations
Act as engineering lead during the deployment phases of projects
Review and approve system design drawings (electrical, civil, communications, etc.)
Liaise with and support contractors, installers, and customers as required
Drive the commissioning phase to ensure projects reach an operational state successfully
Assist with programming and testing of system controls
Serve as the point of contact for internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure consistent communication throughout deployment
Collaborate with the global Tesla Energy team to favour inter-regional cooperation and stay up to date on latest project/product designs and improvements
Gather and communicate local markets' technical and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance; provide feedback on design, installation, and commissioning processes to facilitate continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
Degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering; alternatively, demonstrated exceptional ability in the electrical engineering field through equivalent experience
Knowledge of battery systems, electrical protection, power conversion, MV/HV systems, communication systems, and control systems
Ability to prioritise and execute multiple tasks in parallel, with excellent attention to detail and quality decision-making
Strong communication skills
Professional fluency in English (required); French, Dutch, and/or Spanish is a plus
Relevant work experience, including significant involvement in electrical design, system deployment, testing, and commissioning
Knowledge of local codes and regulations, plus experience with commercial or industrial electrical installations and electricity distribution systems
Highly Beneficial
Experience facilitating grid connections
Project management and/or EPC experience
Health and safety management experience
Programming/coding knowledge or experience
