About Us:
Buller Electricity Limited (BEL) is the local electricity distribution company supplying 4,900 consumers located on the northern West Coast of the South Island. The BEL distribution area extends from Meybille Bay in the south (5km north of Punakaiki), to Karamea in the north.
Established in 1947, the Company is owned by its consumers via the Buller Electric Power Trust. While our core activity is electricity distribution, Buller Electricity also operates an electrical contracting business (Electro Services Limited), and is a significant owner of the electricity retailer Pulse Energy Limited.

About the Role:
We’re currently looking for a Project Designer to join our team in Westport on a full-time, permanent basis.
The key objective of this position is to provide effective planning and scheduling of the network services delivery function, and the associated business administration functions.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a varied position which involves a number of important tasks, including but not limited to:
Designing Overhead and Underground Network to customer/ network specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and requirements.
Coordinating with team members to plan and deliver a number of activities such as network operations control, network faults and reactive support, network lines and infrastructure planned maintenance and construction works.
Collaborating data from multiple platforms, ensuring plans are accurate.
Ensuring all applicable work prerequisites such as consents, permits, and authorisations are received prior to the commencement of field work activities.
Pricing jobs for the network and customers.
Ensuring teams are well briefed and prepared for projects and tasks.
Providing project information and guidance to both consumers and team members, ensuring they have clear, concise plans.
Completing post project reviews of completed work, ensuring feedback is provided to the relevant teams.
Ensuring all relevant systems, drawings, diagrams & databases are updated on completion of projects.
Key Requirements:
Experience of project management and planning, ideally obtained from within an electrical distribution company or similar industry.
Experience of resource allocation and budget management.
Knowledge of New Zealand’s electrical safety regulations, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
Excellent troubleshooting, analysis and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Highly motivated, with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to self-direct whilst working collaboratively within a team.
Previous experience as working as a Line Mechanic would be advantageous but is not essential.
Full New Zealand driver’s license.
The legal right to work in New Zealand.
