LaPrairie Works Inc. is currently recruiting a Project Accounting Coordinator to join its team in Clairmont, Alberta.
The Project Accounting Coordinator provides day-to-day support for LaPrairie Works Inc. project and accounting functions. This role assists with purchase orders, invoice processing, job cost tracking, and billing support to help ensure accurate and timely financial information for projects. The position works closely with the Manager- Civil Infrastructure and Construction Projects, project teams, and the accounting department to support efficient project delivery and financial processes.
JOB DUTIES
Project Cost & Administrative Support
Assist in maintaining job cost information for assigned projects.
Track project-related costs and ensure proper coding of expenses.
Support the preparation of basic cost reports and summaries.
Help identify missing or incomplete cost information.
Purchase Orders & Cost Tracking
Create and maintain purchase orders in company systems.
Track commitments and assist in monitoring project spend.
Confirm receipt of goods and services with project teams.
Ensure documentation is complete and properly recorded.
Invoice & Accounting Support
Review invoices for completeness and proper approvals.
Assist with coding and submitting invoices for processing.
Work with accounting to resolve discrepancies or missing information.
Billing & Revenue Support
Assist in gathering information required for customer billings.
Support preparation of progress invoices and documentation.
Help ensure alignment between field information and billing.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise between project teams and accounting to support information flow.
Follow up with field staff on missing receipts, approvals, or details.
Provide general administrative support related to project finances.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role.
Experience in construction, civil, or project-based environments is an asset.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and job costing.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Comfortable working with both office and field teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting systems.
Willingness to learn and develop in a project accounting environment.
