Title: Program Officer – Africa REACH

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Reports To: Africa REACH Lead

Project: Africa REACH

Contract Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract, 10 Months

Background on Africa REACH

Africa REACH is an African-led and African-focused advocacy initiative designed to unify and amplify its strongest political and cultural forces to drive meaningful continental change and fulfil the promise of an AIDS-free generation in Africa. The initiative convenes powerful elements of African political and cultural influence, together with intergenerational leadership to create a new action agenda around ending AIDS in children and young people in Africa. This effort addresses the disparities in HIV response for children and young people living with HIV (YPLHIV). Africa REACH is an initiative aimed at optimizing opportunities in Africa’s leadership and community structures to expedite continental elimination of AIDS in children and adolescents.

Job Purpose

This role supports the implementation of the Africa REACH 2026 Project and Phase III of the National Grants Program, which will be delivered across six African countries. The National Grants Program is designed to empower national civil society and youth-led organisations to advocate for improved HIV outcomes for children and adolescents.

While the specific advocacy theme changes annually, grant activities will focus on key areas including HIV prevention and treatment modalities, broader sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services and products, and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

The grants are open to legally registered African-based civil society organisations (CSOs) and/or community-based organisations (CBOs). The call for proposals is published on the Africa REACH website and social media platforms, with the targeted countries clearly indicated. In 2026, one grant will be awarded in each of the six selected countries. The detailed job expectations are outlined below.

Role Summary

The Program Officer will lead the implementation of the National Grants Program and provide administrative and operational support to Africa REACH project as needed. The project officer will run a community of practice and facilitate learning among the grantees. As part of the Africa REACH Hub, the role will support the planning, coordination, delivery and tracking of the National Grant Program, working closely with the Africa REACH Team Lead and the DTHF team.
