Pay Range: $31.52 - $40.98/hr.

The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking to fill the position of Program Coordinator to supervise and coordinate the work of cross-functional teams to ensure continuous compliance of regulatory activities, regularly communicate and provide progress updates to keep team informed; exceptional organizational, project management, and planning skills; and to provide responsible and complex administrative support to senior management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, sociology, psychology, social work or related field

• Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative, fiscal, and/or social welfare, community agency, or program management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Educational background in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, environmental science or related field

• Experience evaluating Federal and State regulations for drinking water and wastewater systems

• Experience with standard water and wastewater lab practices; field and treatment processes; and terminology

• Experience meeting Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulatory requirements

• Program and project manager experience

The Program Coordinator job responsibilities include:

• Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations

• Leads, oversees and participates in the administering and auditing of assigned programs; ensures compliance with contract/agreement requirements; assists in the development of City goals for programs and policies

• Monitors, collects, tracks and verifies expenditures and revenues; audits and reconciles revenues related to assigned programs; and maintains accurate records for reporting purposes

• Participates in the development of the division budget forecasts funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; and makes budgetary adjustments, as needed, for assigned programs

• Provides administrative assistance to senior management; prepares spreadsheet and graphs; prepares and presents staff reports; provides statistical information for Council members; and provides public information for the press

• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings; plans and prepare itineraries; and prepares and delivers presentations

• Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
