About the Role
The Program Communications Manager is responsible for translating OpenEd’s programs, policies, timelines, and state requirements into clear, timely, family-friendly communications after a family applies.
This role is obsessed with how and when information shows up for families. You listen closely to families and frontline teams, then deliver high-quality program resources that answer the right questions at the right moment. You do not own the entire family journey, but you are accountable for the clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness of post-application program communications.
Success in this role looks like confident families, fewer reactive support questions, and teams aligned around shared, high-quality resources.
Your Immediate Impact (First 90 days)
Review existing post-application communications, landing pages, and resources to identify gaps, duplication, and clarity issues
Listen closely to Success and Support teams to understand the most common family questions and escalation drivers
Identify key post-application milestones that require clearer or more consistent resources
Align on a shared post-application program calendar to inform resource delivery
Create or refactor priority family-facing assets for upcoming milestones or seasonal events
Core Responsibilities
Program Asset Delivery
Deliver family-facing program assets informed by family needs and internal inputs, including:
Landing pages (post-application hubs, state-specific pages, milestone pages)
Slide decks and presentation materials for info sessions, webinars, and internal alignment
Guides, timelines, and visual explainers for program requirements and updates
Ensure all assets are accurate, on-brand, easy to understand, and ready for use by customer-facing teams.
Develop, manage, and enable high-quality materials for ambassador programs, partnering closely with ambassadors to ensure clear, consistent messaging and a seamless experience for both internal teams and families.
Post-Application Experience
Build and maintain family-facing digital resources for key moments such as:
Enrollment confirmation and next steps
Assessments and testing windows
Program deadlines, events, and seasonal milestones
New state launches and state-specific requirements
Ensure each resource clearly answers:
What is happening
What families need to do, if anything
Key dates or deadlines
Where to go for help
Resource Development & Rollout
Translate inputs from Success, Partnerships, Product, and Marketing into clear, actionable family-facing resources
Create repeatable templates and page structures so information is consistent, easy to update, and scalable
Coordinate rollout of new or updated resources across channels to ensure families receive accurate, timely information
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with:
Success to reflect real family questions and support needs
Marketing to ensure alignment with brand standards and messaging frameworks
Ambassadors to ensure clear and consistent messaging
Partnerships to support new state launches and evolving requirements
Learning to understand and translate policy requirements to parent-facing resources
Act as a central point of coordination to ensure program information is accurate, aligned, and delivered on time
Enablement & Operational Support
Equip internal teams with shared resources, FAQs, and playbooks so teams are not creating one-off materials
Proactively reduce reactive support by addressing common points of confusion before families reach out
Support adoption of new program features, tools, or options through clear, family-focused guidance
Iteration & Improvement
Monitor family feedback, support trends, and questions to identify gaps in clarity or resources
Continuously update and refine content as programs, timelines, and state requirements evolve
Success Metrics:
Post-Application Impact (Primary):
Increased family confidence and satisfaction at key milestones
Reduction in repetitive or confusion-driven support questions
On-time delivery of program resources for seasonal events and launches
Adoption of new program features and options
Operational Impact:
Consistent use of shared templates and landing pages across teams
Faster internal team ramp time
Fewer escalations related to unclear program communication
Who You Are
You are obsessive about clarity, precision, and timing in communication.
You have strong instincts for copy and are confident being the final reviewer for family-facing content.
You enjoy turning complex, messy information into simple, actionable guidance.
You think in systems and templates, not one-off solutions.
You are comfortable balancing multiple inputs and making judgment calls.
You care deeply about the family experience and reducing friction at scale
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in program marketing, product marketing, content operations, enablement, or related roles.
Proven ability to translate complex information into clear, family-friendly resources.
Hands-on experience creating landing pages, guides, decks, templates, or program communications.
Strong project and calendar management skills across multiple stakeholders.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and building structure from scratch.
Experience in education, EdTech, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
This Role Will Excite You IF:
