Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is more than a workplace! We are a vibrant, mission-driven community where every employee is valued and supported. Rooted in a tradition of excellence and inspired by our Catholic character, Notre Dame is committed to fostering an environment of care that nurtures the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Here, you will find a deep sense of belonging, a culture that prioritizes well-being, and the opportunity to grow your career while being a force for good in the world. Whether contributing to world-class research, shaping the student experience, or supporting the University’s mission in other ways, you will be part of a dedicated team working to make a meaningful impact on campus and beyond. At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you!

The Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies is part of the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, advancing integral human development through research, policy, and practice. The Institute (with its foci of Irish literature, history, language, and the arts), along with the Clingen Family Center for the Study of Modern Ireland (with its focus on policy), is dedicated to exploring what Ireland can learn from the world and what the world can learn from Ireland. Together, they foster interdisciplinary scholarship, cultivate global partnerships, and create spaces for dialogue that connect academic research to contemporary cultural and policy conversations.

The Program Administrator – Research Programs at the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies plays a central role in advancing the Institute’s research mission through the thoughtful design and execution of scholarly programming. In collaboration with KNI leadership, the Program Administrator will operationalize a multi-year programming plan aligned with the Institute’s strategic priorities. This includes coordinating conferences, workshops, visiting scholar initiatives, lectures, and research convenings; managing logistics and budgets; supporting faculty-led research initiatives; and ensuring a seamless experience for domestic and international partners.

Working closely with Notre Dame faculty, external research collaborators, and administrative and communications teams, the Program Administrator will also help elevate the visibility and impact of research programming through effective promotion, stakeholder engagement, and post-event assessment. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and a commitment to fostering intellectual community across disciplines and borders.

Education: Master’s degree (preferred), or Bachelor’s degree (5 years), or advanced certification beyond Bachelor’s

Experience: 3 to 4 years

Skills:

• Experience planning and facilitating international academic conferences
• Strong organizational skills and a high degree of independence and initiative
• Must be flexible, creative, and able to excel within a dynamic environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Affinity with Notre Dame mission, vision, and values
• Strong orientation toward collaboration and teamwork.

Compensation: Up to $62,000, commensurate with experience

This position will close on March 27, 2026.
