Production Support

Duration: 6 Months

Location: CHARLOTTE, NC
Job Description:

5 - 7 years. Provides support after the solution goes live. If resources provide support from development through production, role should be chosen based on where the majority of their time is spent. Production support from this role will typically fall into the third level of support: minor enhancements, batch optimization, patches, etc 
Position Summary Accountable for the operational readiness of critical projects and releases. Participates throughout project life cycle ensuring designs/changes account for operational stability, such as ensuring monitoring, logging, and technical recoveries are built in. Ensures production support resources have what is needed to operationally support the environment post change, including documents, knowledge transfer, demos, etc. Engage early with project teams and ensure planning and preparation successful transition to operations prior to and after deployment. • Review project documentation to analyze the proposed design for critical changes impacting infrastructure and operations and identify any risks or gaps 

• Engage appropriate teams to review and analyze high-risk areas 

• Perform Operational Readiness Assessments and identify specific deliverables that are required and create a delivery plan. 

• Remediate gaps/risks developing appropriate plans developed 

• Track all operational readiness tasks through to delivery and facilitate their completion as appropriate. 

• Escalate quality or timeline issues appropriately and construct periodic status reports. 

Required Skills 
• Strong technical problem solving and decision making skills in eCommerce environment 

• Strong results & detail orientation, along with excellent interpersonal skills (e.g. collaboration, teamwork) 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Experience in either triage, operational readiness, disaster recover, or capacity management. 

• Exceptional project management skills (e.g. planning, organizational , and time management skills) 

• Broad IT technical skills across multiple disciplines, in both applications and infrastructure environments at an enterprise wide level. 

• 5 years hands on experience in eCommerce, with IT systems and/or application management 

• In-depth understanding of the SDLC and IT projects lifecycles (Release/Change Management Process, Performance/Capacity Management Process, Infrastructure delivery , application delivery, etc.) 

• Exceptional System Analysis skills - using technical diagrams (e.g. use of architecture diagrams) and assessing the impact a change will have. 

• Technical Aptitude- has the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, applications, etc. and understand how to assess their operational readiness 

Desired Skills 
• Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following desired: 

• Operational Readiness 

• Problem Incident Management 

• Infrastructure design 

• System Performance 

• Monitoring (Introscope, Tealeaf, Splunk, RCEM/VAM, Tivoli) 

• Systems Administration/Operations/Traffic Management (WebSphere, WebSphere eXtreme Scale, UNIX, mainframe processors and database systems) 

• Risk Assessment 

• Post Production/Operations Follow Up
