Job Description
About the Team
The B2B Marketing team contributes to OpenAI’s broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. We are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Sales, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager focused on growth to help expand adoption and usage of Codex.
Codex is rapidly becoming an essential AI collaborator for developers. This role focuses on accelerating that adoption by driving full-funnel growth — from building global awareness through brand campaigns to acquiring new users through performance marketing and increasing retention through in-product engagement.
You will own growth marketing initiatives across Codex, working across marketing, product, and growth teams to design and execute campaigns that bring developers into Codex and help them succeed once they start using it. This role blends product marketing, growth strategy, and developer ecosystem fluency.
This is an ideal role for someone who understands how developers discover and adopt new tools, has run multi-channel growth campaigns, and is equally comfortable shaping a billboard campaign, launching paid acquisition programs, or driving in-product lifecycle engagement.
You’ll be responsible for:
• Drive Codex user growth end-to-end: Own marketing programs that increase awareness, acquisition, activation, and ongoing usage.
• Lead top-of-funnel brand campaigns: Develop large-scale awareness programs across channels such as out-of-home, TV, influencer partnerships, developer creators, and event sponsorships.
• Execute performance marketing initiatives: Run lower-funnel campaigns across paid social and digital channels that drive measurable developer acquisition and product adoption.
• Own in-product growth campaigns: Partner with Product teams to deliver lifecycle programs including email, onboarding journeys, announcements, and in-product messaging that deepen engagement and retention.
• Define channel strategy and measurement: Determine which growth channels to invest in, establish success metrics, and continuously optimize campaign performance.
• Engage the developer ecosystem: Work directly with developer influencers, creators, and communities to amplify Codex adoption and credibility.
• Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner closely with Product Managers, PMMs, Growth & Measurement teams, Design, and external agencies to execute integrated campaigns.
• Translate product moments into growth opportunities: Turn launches, feature releases, and developer momentum into scalable acquisition and retention programs.
We’re looking for someone with:
• Have 14+ years of experience in growth marketing, product marketing, or developer marketing roles.
• Have led multi-channel growth campaigns spanning brand, performance, and lifecycle marketing.
• Have experience marketing developer tools, infrastructure products, or technical platforms.
• Are deeply plugged into the developer ecosystem—including AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and similar platforms—and actively follow developer conversations across communities like X.
• Understand how developers evaluate and adopt new tools and actively follow the developer ecosystem.
• Are comfortable working across channels including paid social, influencer programs, events, and out-of-home campaigns.
• Have strong analytical instincts and experience defining success metrics and measuring campaign impact.
• Can collaborate effectively across Product, Marketing, Growth, and Design teams in fast-moving environments.
• Combine creative campaign thinking with operational rigor and execution.
• Are technically curious and comfortable engaging with developer workflows and AI-powered coding tools.
Workplace & Location
This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office.
