What You’ll Do
Data Strategy & Model Integration: Drive the design of data pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and annotation systems for training/maintaining high-performance LLMs. Own data quality standards, including bias mitigation and privacy-preserving techniques.
LLM-Centric Product Vision: Define roadmaps for Jan’s core models (e.g., Jan-v2), balancing technical feasibility, user needs, and ethical alignment. Collaborate with researchers to translate experimental breakthroughs into deployable features.
Cross-Functional Model Leadership: Partner with Engineering and Research teams to align model development with product goals. Champion transparency in model decision-making and user trust.
Community-Driven Model Evolution: Analyze usage patterns from open-source communities (Discord, Reddit, GitHub) to refine model behavior and address real-world edge cases.
Scalability & Reliability: Set benchmarks for model performance, cost efficiency, and resource utilization.
Who You Are
Technical Depth: Experience shipping production-grade LLMs or working with modern AI stacks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow). Familiarity with model deployment, quantization, and hardware constraints is essential.
Data Mastery: Proven ability to design data strategies for training, evaluation, and A/B testing. Comfortable with SQL, Python, and tooling like DVC, Weights & Biases, or Neptune.
Bias & Privacy Advocate: Prior experience applying ethical AI practices (e.g., differential privacy, fairness auditing) in real-world systems.
Global Mindset: Can collaborate across time zones and cultures, representing Jan’s community values globally.
