Job Description
Join Harambee as a Product Manager & Business Analyst
Are you someone who thrives at the intersection of product thinking, analysis, and impact? Do you enjoy turning complex organisational challenges into clear, usable solutions that help people do their best work? If you’re energized by collaboration, clarity, and purpose‑driven technology, Harambee wants you on our team.
About Harambee
We’re not your typical organisation. At Harambee, we’re driven by integrity, results, and a deep commitment to solving youth unemployment through innovative partnerships. Our work is fast‑paced and purposeful, powered by collaborations with partners such as The Presidency of South Africa, Business Unity South Africa, Youth Employment Service (YES), and others who share our mission. Technology plays a critical role in enabling our impact — and our internal products are key to helping teams make better decisions, work more efficiently, and scale what works.
The Role
In this hybrid Product Manager & Business Analyst role, you’ll help shape and evolve Harambee’s Internal Product Suite. You’ll work closely with product, design, data, technology, and operational teams to translate organisational needs into clear product direction, business requirements, and delivery plans.
This role is about clarity and connection — understanding what the business truly needs, turning insight into action, and ensuring that the solutions we build genuinely support our people and our mission.
This role combines Business Analysis and Product Management. Candidates without hands‑on Product Management experience (e.g. roadmap contribution, prioritisation, user validation, outcome ownership) may not be suited for this role.
Your Key Responsibilities
Shape and Evolve the Product Roadmap
Continuously refine and manage the product roadmap for your area of ownership.
Collaborate with other Product Managers to ensure alignment across the broader product ecosystem.
Bring insights from users, internal teams, partners, and opportunity holders into roadmap decisions.
Understand and Define Business Needs
Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to clarify needs, challenges, and desired outcomes.
Analyse problems and opportunities to inform product and service direction.
Ensure alignment between business priorities and product solutions.
Translate Insights into Clear Requirements
Convert business needs and experiment outcomes into structured, high‑quality requirements.
Document processes, data flows, functional requirements, and user journeys.
Lead refinement sessions and create clear, actionable software tickets.
Enable Planning, Delivery, and Quality
Support prioritisation and planning in line with the product roadmap
Identify dependencies, risks, and assumptions — both business and technical.
Define acceptance criteria and support User Acceptance Testing.
Partner with technical teams to ensure shared understanding and accurate delivery.
Enable Adoption and Continuous Improvement
Support internal teams in adopting new tools, processes, and ways of working.
Validate solutions with users to ensure they are fit‑for‑purpose.
Contribute to improving product and technology ways of working across Harambee.
What We’re Looking For
Must Haves
A relevant degree in IT, Informatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
6–10 years’ experience in business analysis within an Agile software development environment.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
Experience translating complex needs into clear requirements.
Ability to communicate confidently with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
A passion for building inclusive, scalable digital products.
Advantageous
Experience working closely with Product Managers and contributing to product roadmaps.
Exposure to analytics techniques and data‑driven decision‑making.
Experience operating in complex, mission‑driven organisations.
Who You Are
You’re curious, structured, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
You care about outcomes, not just outputs
You’re collaborative and value shared understanding across teams
You take accountability and follow work through to closure
You’re excited by change and thrive in fast‑paced environments
You believe technology should enable people — not get in their way
