The Product Assembler plays a pivotal role on the Operations team. As Armstrong continues to grow in manufacturing capacity and efficiency, we are looking for a dependable and hard-working individual who will be responsible for building our products. This includes, but is not limited to, putting together multiple parts, ensuring quality manufacturing, reporting product defects, contributing ideas to improve efficiencies, and adhering to all health and safety policies and best practices.
This position is based out of Scarborough, Ontario and reports directly to the Afternoon Shift Assembly Supervisory. This position will begin as a 3-month, full-time contract with possible extension for permanent, full-time employment based on performance and business needs at the close of the 3-month period. Please note there is a $0.60/hour premium when working the Afternoon Shift.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:
Key Accountabilities:
Following all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations constantly in an industrial manufacturing environment
Bench-assembly and building pumps
Operating production equipment, primarily drill presses, hand grinders, and other appropriate tools as required (e.g. compressors, band saws)
Bolt, screw, clip, or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment
Marking, recording, and reporting material defects as required
Utilizing overhead and jib-cranes as well as other lifting devices
Using safe material handling equipment such as pallet trucks/jacks
All other duties as may be assigned
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
Minimum 2-years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in an assembly or building-type role or similar
Proficient ability to read and follow specific work instructions for made-to-order products
Strong sense of urgency in a time-sensitive working environment
Great team-oriented attitude, while capable of working independently
Working knowledge of typical measuring equipment, including tape measures
Ability to work while standing, bending squatting, and lifting up to 60lbs.
Strong verbal communication in English
