About the Team
At the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering division, consisting of 170 experts, we develop and design cutting-edge hardware systems for multiple applications, such as search radars, fire control radars, and combat management equipment for our customers in both Naval and Ground-based domains.

The department consists of Mechanical, Electrical, and Procured Parts Engineering teams, as well as our Environmental Competence Center.

About the job

The "Procured Parts Engineer" is technically responsible for the purchase of complex purchase parts. These are purchase parts that combine various active and passive functions and form a subsystem with a high degree of integration with the radar system. Due to the multitude of specific requirements and interfaces, these purchasing parts are developed to specification, produced and tested by suppliers in order to subsequently be integrated into the radar system. Together with our Purchasing and Industry department you take care of purchasing the product from the right supplier. Thales uses international suppliers that are mostly within Europe but sometimes also outside of Europe. You are responsible for the development of our new purchase parts and you are constantly monitoring and improving the current purchase parts and the cooperation and guidance of suppliers with Thales. Cost and lead time reduction are important here. You take your views convincingly and motivate them and adjust them if necessary.
Here you will have contact with various departments within the development departments such as RF, processing and system engineering, but also with supply chain and purchasing. You also have contacts with other Thales branches, suppliers, and (internal) customers.

About you

• Bachelor degree in preferably in the field of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar.

• You like to define the requirements for the complex purchase part together with other specialists and to coordinate with the supplier

• Good communication skills and able to work in multidisciplinary teams and suppliers;

• You speak English. German and French proficiency is an advantage.

• You are enthusiastic, dynamic and you have excellent communication skills.

• You are results-oriented, cost-conscious and you take initiative.

• You are willing to travel for visits to suppliers.

• You have commercial skills.
