Process Engineer
Responsibilities / Tasks
• Know manufacturing processes in the LFF industry as a pre-engineering:• Process dimensioning.
• Production time schedules (if needed).
• Cleaning In Place Specs (flow rate, pressure, temperature, concentration and distributions).
• Layout (Matching process requirements: Process flow, drains, operation and safety requirements…)
• Calculation of product losses.
• Preparation of flowcharts, block diagrams, P&ID's for basic and detailed engineering using 2D design tools available in GEA.
• Perform the Mass and energy balances in the process sold (if needed).
• Dimensioning of thermal and mechanical equipment (pumps, pipes, steam, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation…) for the non-sanitary and sanitary installations in LFF industry.
• Preparation of equipment and components list, where it includes technical specifications for other specialties (electrical, automation and mechanical design).
• Coordination with different areas (sales, procurement, external GEA offices and technological centers of competence, logistics, electrical and automation engineering, project management) for the manufacturing and installation plans of LFF projects.
• Review of Technical specifications and scope for procurement negotiation. Then, elaboration of Purchase Requisition (SAP platform).
• Lead technical design reviews for projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct technical discussions and order clarification meetings with customers and/or end suppliers, to ensure that the engineering meets customer and process requirements.
• Drive improvement of technical solutions for non-sanitary and sanitary installations. Secure best technology is implemented into our engineering work and process design to the benefit of our customers.
• Elaboration of Process description as a base functional description (FDS) and operation descriptions.
• Initial tests, start up and commissioning of equipment, process lines and complete plants: tests with water, tests with product, validation of contracted KPIs by clients and assisted operations.
• Operational training of the client on the systems/equipment provided.
• Provide technical problem support and claim resolution, including root cause analysis.
• P&ID and components list As built P&ID at the end of the project.
• Practicing internal Quality, Environment, Health and Work Safety Policies, translating our projects under the responsibility and commitment of GEA to the Environment.
• Participate and contribute as training of new department officials.
Your Profile / Qualifications
• Degree in engineering: Chemical and Food (Preferred), Industrial and Mechanical (Depending on applicable experience).
• (Valuable) Master’s Degree and/or specific trainings in related technical technologies / processes.
• 5+ Years of experience working in medium sized projects for the “Dairy & Food” industry
• (Valuable) Knowledge of main engineering calculation and design tools.
