Responsibilities / Tasks
The Process Engineer supports the design, development, and implementation of process systems within the Liquid Technologies division. The role contributes to the successful execution of projects from early sales support through detailed engineering, commissioning, and optimization.
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing process designs, preparing engineering documentation, supporting procurement and installation activities, and assisting in commissioning and startup. The role ensures that process solutions meet customer requirements while complying with company standards for quality, safety, and environmental performance.
This position works closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to deliver technically sound and efficient process solutions
Your Profile / Qualifications
• Define production processes; size and specify pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, instruments, filters, piping, and accessories.
• Develop basic and detailed process diagrams (PFD/P&ID), contribute to plant layout and general arrangement drawings in collaboration with CAD teams, and review 3D model execution.
• Prepare and/or review mass and energy balances for projects and sold process designs.
• Generate data sheets and technical specifications that feed CAD, Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation—and support procurement
• Create process descriptions and operating narratives as the basis for process control software (incl. software FAT support).
• Contribute to pre‑engineering, cost analysis, and schedule planning to enable effective project execution.
• Interface with Sales, Project Management, Procurement/Logistics, Mechanical, Electrical & Automation, other Process Engineers, and global Centers of Competence/suppliers.
• Support the procurement lifecycle including technical equalization, PR creation in SAP, management of technical deviations to PO, and collaboration with Logistics on material delivery/expediting.
• Lead or support order clarification meetings to ensure engineering meets customer and process requirements.
• Support and/or lead initial tests (water/product), start‑up and commissioning, performance validation, and assist operation.
• Ensure solutions adhere to internal policies and industry hygiene standards/regulatory guidelines (e.g., EHEDG/3‑A where applicable).
• Perform process risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP participation) and comply with Quality, Environment, and Health & Safety policies.
• Prepare and maintain a complete process engineering deliverables package (calculations/simulations, PFD/P&ID, specifications, tag/line/tiein/interface lists, equipment/instrument/utilities lists, and discipline interfaces) and produce asbuilt process flow diagrams at project closeout.
• Provide customer training; mentor or train other engineers; contribute to internal standards and procedures.
