What You’ll Do:
Capital Projects & Equipment Installation
Lead procurement, installation, and commissioning of food processing and packaging equipment.
Manage multi-disciplinary capital projects involving mechanical systems, electrical controls, and automation.
Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines and oversee contractors and vendors.
Support factory acceptance testing and commissioning of new production equipment.
Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, yield, and reliability through process optimization.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven decision making.
Analyze plant performance metrics and establish KPIs to support operational improvements.
Lead root cause analysis of equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions.
Plant Operations & Cross-Functional Support
Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to evaluate plant changes and implement engineering improvements.
Support plant operations during major initiatives such as shutdowns, new line commissioning, and equipment upgrades.
Develop procedures and documentation for new processes and train operations staff.
Process & System Design
Design and implement improvements to production systems including process piping, cleaning systems (CIP), and production lines.
Develop plant layouts and equipment integration plans.
Support sanitary design and hygienic equipment installations in food production environments.
What You Need to Get the Job Done:
5–12 years of engineering experience in manufacturing or food processing environments.
Demonstrated experience managing capital projects ($500k – $5M+) from concept through commissioning.
Experience working directly with plant operations teams in a production environment.
Strong experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives with measurable savings.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng) or eligibility preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an asset.
Lean Six Sigma training or certification considered an asset.
Practical understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and ability to use automation systems to troubleshoot process and equipment issues
ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft NAV)
Use of CAD tools (2D and 3D)
Data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, DreamReports)
