Position Overview
Private Equity is the largest sub-segment of the Private Markets industry. Private equity investments are increasingly housed in a variety of legal entity structures that go beyond the traditional GP/LP structure, including fund-of-funds, GP stakes funds, secondaries funds, and semi-liquid vehicles. Moreso than any other Private Markets sub-asset class, private equity funds also tend to have their fund accounting and recordkeeping self-administered within the Investment Manager’s operation. This addressable market for private equity fund servicing is expected to expand both via growth in private equity vehicles, as well as via increased outsourcing in the market.
This Managing Director role will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Global Head of Private Equity in State Street’s institutional services division. The position will also collaborate closely with operating teams providing fund administration, custody, transfer agency, trustee services, and analytics to PE managers. Additionally, the position will collaborate with State Street’s global markets FX trading teams, Global Credit Finance teams, and other State Street divisions to develop client value chain strategies across asset servicing.
As we continue to expand our product capabilities and market share, we are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Private Equity Product Solutioning Manager to join our global private markets product team to help lead the evolution and growth of our private equity asset servicing capabilities and go-to-market strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
Client solutioning and driving a differentiated Private Equity offering are the main responsibilities of this role; however, participation in the product development and management of the private equity end-to-end platform will also be part of this remit. You will collaborate closely with commercial teams and operating teams to drive superior outcomes for State Street and our global private equity clients.
• Provide subject matter expertise — deep, hands-on experience in private equity as an asset class and in private equity asset servicing. This includes a strong understanding of how PE assets and fund structures are administered and supported across the full operating model (fund accounting/recordkeeping, custody where applicable, investor servicing, treasury/cash, FX, financing, data and reporting) and the technology and data flows that enable them. Ability to translate the day-to-day needs of PE firms and asset owners into scalable solutions for complex clients.
• Drive solutions - lead and partner with teams across our global organization to define opportunities and solve issues, working with the relevant subject matter experts as needed to ensure product design assumptions and strategic options are thoroughly explored.
• Maintain a relationship with private equity clients and continuously build a referenceable client list, helping to identify co-development partners to expand our market share.
• Represent State Street at industry events/conferences and hold internal/external product office hours.
• Research & Market Analysis - Ensure key competitor intelligence is updated continuously, and emerging industry trends are captured where relevant.
• Partner with the business development and relationship management organizations to develop a robust pipeline. Provide guidance and direction to the team to drive business development, including supporting all relevant Request for Information / Proposal activity, ensuring quality responses, and negotiating/approving client and/or vendor commercial arrangements for the product team.
• Monitor, Defend, and Grow State Street’s overall Private Equity P&L.
• Provide any required post-sales interaction and guidance to support the smooth implementation of the proposed solution.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 10+ years’ experience desirable
• Depth of experience in Private Equity required, either from asset servicing, or directly from within Private Equity and Fund employers
• Demonstrable experience managing and growing a commercial revenue line
• Strong Private Equity network, preferably globally
• Experience with Agentic AI and out-of-the-box thinking regarding the use of technology and automation to drive solutions and operational efficiency
• Outstanding Leadership skills
Salary Range:
$170,000 - $267,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
Employees are eligible to participate in State Street’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes: our retirement savings plan (401K) with company match; insurance coverage including basic life, medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and other optional additional coverages; paid-time off including vacation, sick leave, short term disability, and family care responsibilities; access to our Employee Assistance Program; incentive compensation including eligibility for annual performance-based awards (excluding certain sales roles subject to sales incentive plans); and, eligibility for certain tax advantaged savings plans.
