As a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for the complete testing lifecycle of highly complex projects or features, encompassing test design, automation development, and production monitoring (including crashes and any production-related issues) within the squad.

Reporting to the Tech Lead, you will work within a cross functional agile team.

What you will do

• Design and evolve automation frameworks to maximise maintainability, execution speed, and test coverage, including building new frameworks from the ground up.
• Apply your deep technical expertise to guide teams on best practices, ensuring seamless integration across complex systems and technologies.
• Lead Proofs of Concept (POCs) for new tools, languages, and frameworks, driving innovation and continuous improvement in automation practices.
• Champion quality by leading design and code reviews for test automation and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Ensure predictable, efficient, and high-quality delivery across squads by streamlining processes and automating repetitive tasks.
• Balance quality, delivery speed, and technical debt, making sound prioritisation decisions that support long-term product health.
• Collaborate across squads, Product, and Development teams to solve complex challenges and lead cross-team automation initiatives that elevate engineering standards.

• Experienced in Agile Development, driving collaboration, adaptability, and continuous customer feedback.
• Skilled in Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD), fostering a strong culture of automation and rapid, reliable delivery.
• Advanced in Test Automation Frameworks and Software Testing, ensuring quality through robust execution, reporting, and stakeholder insight.
• Proficient in Microservices and Service-Oriented Architecture, supporting scalable, flexible, and modular system design.
• Advanced in IT Risk Management and Troubleshooting, proactively identifying and resolving technical and security challenges.
• Experienced in Project and Programme Management and Business Process Management, delivering operational efficiency and measurable outcomes.
• Competent in Technology Strategy, Governance, and Business Analysis, aligning IT initiatives with organisational objectives and informed decision-making.
