As a Principal Product Designer on Social, you will shape how Roblox players socialize, communicate, and connect across immersive experiences. You’ll lead design for a key product area within Social—owning end-to-end execution from early discovery through launch and iteration.

This is a high-impact, highly collaborative role where you’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, and Trust & Safety to deliver social experiences that are expressive, intuitive, and safe for a global audience.

You Have

• 10+ years of professional experience as a UX/Product Designer, including experience leading projects independently

• A portfolio demonstrating strong craft, end-to-end product thinking, and shipped work with clear user and business impact

• Experience designing consumer products, ideally in social, communication, community, or identity spaces

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive alignment across cross-functional partners

• A Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Ergonomics, or equivalent practical experience

• Strong storytelling skills: Can clearly communicate design rationale to exec and cross-functional stakeholders (bonus)

• Comfort designing across platforms (mobile, desktop, console/10ft) (bonus)

• Experience building scalable patterns or contributing to design systems. (bonus)

• Experience designing for safety-by-default systems (filtering, reporting, consent, privacy, integrity) (bonus)

You Will

• Lead design for a core area of Roblox Social, creating experiences that help users connect and communicate meaningfully

• Own end-to-end feature design: research synthesis, concept exploration, prototyping, interaction design, visual polish, and final specs

• Translate complex requirements (including safety and policy constraints) into clear, user-centered product solutions

• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape roadmaps, define requirements, and drive decisions through tradeoffs

• Collaborate with Research and Data Science to define success metrics, learn from experiments, and iterate based on insights

• Ensure high-quality implementation through close collaboration with engineering and strong attention to detail

• Contribute to team culture through critique, mentorship, and raising the bar for craft and clarity

• Participate in interviewing and hiring, helping strengthen an inclusive design team

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range
$304,560—$362,740 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
