Role Overview

Coupang Ads drives the advertising business within Coupang and plays a key role in Coupang’s profitability. It is one of the fastest growing groups in Coupang. We are innovating new ads products and features to sustain the hyper growth of the business for the coming years. We are looking for an experienced and passionate engineer leader that can drive the rapid innovation for our new product ads offering and make significant impact through start-up sized teams.

The position will report directly to the VP of Engineering, Offsite Ads. The person will have much autonomy to explore various areas and discover the next big innovations.

The desired candidate can dive deep into the business and the systems, identify the opportunities, think systematically about the solutions, and drive their execution. The person can be a role model of delivering results with grit and demanding excellence. The person can work effectively with leaders of individual teams and align technical directions with key stakeholders.

What You Will Do

• Drive new Ads product initiatives, leading distributed global teams, to accelerate the business growth

• Oversee the ads technologies and systems and evolve the architecture to accelerate execution and improve the reliability

• Have strong execution with the ability to drive key developments and overcome technical blockers

• Ensure solid system designs and operational excellence

• Be metrics driven and can identify big opportunities

• Build strong collaborations with partner teams

• Attract, develop and retain world-class talent

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years of industry experience on technology companies.

• Have a broad and deep understanding on key technologies including storage, data processing, Machine Learning infrastructure, search, and serving.

• Solid track record of delivering large and complex systems with big business impacts.

• Strong design and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communications and collaborations across teams and across functionalities.

Preferred Qaulifications:

• Experience with Applied Machine Learning products, e.g. Search, Recommendation, and Ads systems

• Deep Ads Domain Knowledge

• Leading or managing big teams

Pay & Benefits:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation. 

The base pay for this position ranges from $184,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $376,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
