Principal Lecturer

The Principal Lecturer is a role model for applied, authentic learning and a key contributor to the professional reputation of the institution.

Teaching and Learning
• Demonstrate exemplary teaching practice through innovative, industry-informed pedagogy that inspires and challenges learners.
• Design and deliver authentic learning experiences that draw directly on current industry knowledge and real-world practice.
• Champion teaching excellence within the programme, mentoring colleagues and modelling best practice in blended and applied learning.
• Foster strong connections between learners and industry, facilitating work-integrated learning opportunities and professional networking.
• Lead the embedding of contemporary industry standards and practices into course content, ensuring graduates are workforce-ready.
Programme Design and Development
• Guide the design and development of programmes and courses grounded in deep industry knowledge and current professional practice.
• Drive authentic assessment design that reflects real-world industry challenges and standards.
• Ensure curriculum remains current and industry-relevant through active engagement with professional and industry networks.
Professional Development
• Maintain active engagement with industry through ongoing professional practice, networks, and partnerships.
• Pursue continuous development of industry expertise and teaching capability to ensure currency and relevance.
• Contribute to the professional learning of the team by sharing industry insights and innovative teaching approaches.
Research/Scholarship
• Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, with outputs relevant to industry-informed education.
• Collaborate with industry partners on applied projects that enrich the learning environment.
• Engage in practitioner inquiry that connects teaching, learning, and professional practice.
Contribution to Academic, Industry and wider Community
• Build and maintain a broad network of industry relationships that directly benefit students and programmes.
• Act as an ambassador for the institution within professional and industry communities, enhancing the institution’s reputation and partnerships.
• Facilitate industry engagement opportunities for students, including guest speakers, site visits, and work-integrated learning.
• Contribute to programme and faculty governance and to the development of academic and professional policy.
