Principal Engineer - Payments Growth & Experience

The role / impact

You will play a pivotal role in the growth of payments, which is one of our core strategic pillars. This position is about leading growth experimentation across multiple product teams to design and build smart features that automate and enrich workflows for our customers. You will spend a significant portion of your time hands-on, writing and reviewing code while partnering closely with product and design leads to solve complex customer problems at scale.

Your impact will be felt through the rapid design and execution of experiments, using data-driven feedback to identify small changes that can result in significant product growth. By building and releasing impactful features, you will directly improve the end-to-end journey for small businesses, specifically focusing on how they get paid and manage their invoices.

The team / how they connect

You will be a key member of the Payments Growth and Experience team, primarily home-based within our Growth squad while collaborating with various payments product teams globally. The team operates with a hybrid, high-trust culture, connecting through regular workshops and workshops to embed experimentation best practices across the portfolio.

The team is currently working on / Initially, you will focus on

• Utilising our modern tech stack featuring React, .NET, and AWS to build scalable full-stack solutions.

• Integrating AI tooling and agentic coding tools into daily development workflows to enhance engineering productivity.

• Leading AB testing and growth experiments using tooling like Statsig to reduce learning cycles.

• Partnering with the Managed Sales team to pick up and evolve core invoicing features and capabilities.

Where and how you can work

This role is based in Australia in Melbourne or Sydney. We embrace a hybrid way of working, so you won't be expected in the office five days a week, though you will travel to New Zealand at least once per quarter for workshops and team interactions.
