About the role

This role will join our Personalise team which powers the core photo editing experiences for our customers across all platforms and devices. We design and build high-performance editors that help people turn their memories into beautiful physical products. You will join a collaborative environment in Amsterdam where engineering, product, and design teams work together to translate creative ideas into delightful end-to-end customer journeys.

As a technical leader, you will help us scale a resilient engineering organization while continuously improving our platform to support new products and innovative ways of personalising memories.

How you embrace curiosity daily:

Lead the architectural vision for our web editors and mobile app integrations over a twelve month horizon.

Translate business strategy into a clear technical roadmap that focuses on platform integration and performance.

Design architectures that prioritize reusable capabilities and long-term technical health.

Explore how AI can enhance our editors and engineering workflows without adding unnecessary complexity.

•
Partner with Product and Engineering Managers to shape the strategy and goals for the Personalise stream.

•
Champion AI-augmented engineering practices to increase our speed and reduce cognitive load.

•
Stay current with the evolving AI landscape to identify new opportunities for innovation within our products.

How you make your mark:

Deliver a sequential technical roadmap based on our long-term technology vision for web and mobile experiences.

•
Improve our core metrics including editor performance, global latency, and reliability.

•
Set pragmatic engineering standards for quality and security that teams across the domain can adopt.

•
Influence the broader company architecture by aligning with other principal engineers on shared standards.

•
Create an environment where teams can move fast while protecting the quality and maintainability of our code.

•
Mentor other engineers to grow their technical depth and help them think in terms of systems and customer impact.

•
Challenge outdated practices and simplify our systems to help us learn and deliver faster.

What you bring to the team:
•
Extensive experience as a principal engineer or architect leading complex and high-scale product platforms.

•
Deep expertise in modern frontend engineering using React or similar frameworks along with state management.

•
A proven track record of driving technical strategies that align closely with business goals.

•
Experience with backend and API-driven architectures that power interactive multi-surface experiences.

•
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle.

•
A clear perspective on how AI-augmented workflows are reshaping engineering productivity and system design.

What sets you apart:

Experience building interactive editors or design tools featuring drag-and-drop or real-time previews.

•
A background in e-commerce or photo product domains.

•
Formal education in Computer Science or a related technical field.
