Principal Consultant – SQL, Cognos & Looker

Model N is seeking an experienced and innovative senior technical consultant to join our Global Services team. The right candidate must be exceptionally strong and experienced as a technical consultant. As a key member of the technical team, you will be responsible for software development and customization with operational oversight and the ability to respond appropriately to both project and operational issues to our global clients’ needs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including delivery, product, engineering and support — to ensure solutions align with business goals and technical standards. As a member of the AS, the candidate will lead a project of consultants to customize, implement, and deploy Model N BI applications. In addition to proven expertise in the implementation of enterprise-class BI software packages (based on BI tools like IBM Cognos & SQL), the successful candidate must possess strong customer focus and be able to take ownership implementation and operation of multiple projects or work streams simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand functional and reporting requirements, and translate them into efficient technical solutions
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Cognos reports, dashboards, and data models.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Cognos Analytics, Oracle SQL, and data analytics best practices.
• Design and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, and database views to support BI reporting.
• Work with delivery teams to ensure the successful implementation and transition of solutions.
• Full BI software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations support.
• Translate customer requirements into BI software design, development, plan, and implementation. Propose system design/enhancements based on customer problems and product requirements. Communicate with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
• Ensure system changes are tested properly.
• Mentor junior developers and review deliverables for design and performance quality
• Recommend and help customers understand how Model N can be best changed, designed and/or configured technically to meet a customer's business requirement.
• This is a tech lead role, with hands-on technical delivery.

Job Qualification:
• 8+ years of experience in BI and Data Analytics with proven expertise in: IBM Cognos , Oracle SQL / PL/SQL – complex query development, tuning, and performance troubleshooting.
Highly Desirable: Looker – LookML model development, explores, and dashboard optimization or any other data analytics and visualization tool
• Advanced knowledge in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence concepts.
• Experience in relational database programming, particularly Oracle and advanced-level SQL and PL/SQL.
• Proven experience in performance tuning at the database, report, and visualization layers. SQL query optimization techniques are a must.
• Experience in Cognos Analytics development, Server Configuration and Administration, Packaging and Deployment, Model generation, Report Authoring, and the Cognos Framework Manager (Added Advantage).
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Agile and managed services delivery models with a good understanding of SDLC and ITIL processes
• Ability to work independently or lead a team effectively, meet project deliverables on time
• Excellent communication and customer management skills with an ability to bridge technical and business perspectives effectively.
• Leadership mindset with a focus on mentoring and continuous improvement.
• BE/BTech or ME/ MTech.
