Position Overview
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, supporting Line Cooks, and maintaining an organized and clean kitchen. This role ensures the kitchen operates smoothly during breakfast and lunch service at Aspasia Coffee and Bake Shop.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and sauces according to recipes and standards.
Portion and label ingredients for daily use.
Assist Line Cooks with cooking and plating as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation.
Follow food safety, storage, and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Monitor inventory and notify Kitchen Manager of supply needs.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
Support smooth kitchen workflow, particularly during high-volume service.
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to lift, carry, and move kitchen equipment and supplies as needed.
Working Conditions
Extended periods of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
Exposure to heat, steam, and kitchen equipment.
High-volume service periods requiring speed, focus, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a prep cook, line cook, or kitchen assistant preferred.
Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and food safety standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
ServSafe Food Handler certification.
Culinary school or formal training is a plus but not required.
