Pre-assessment nurse - Bank

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pre‑Assessment Nurse (Bank) to join our Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic. This is a key role supporting safe, effective, and patient-centred care by ensuring patients are clinically optimised for orthopaedic surgery and procedures.

You will work closely with consultants, anaesthetists, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to deliver high-quality pre‑operative assessment and preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments for orthopaedic patients, including medical history, physical assessments, and risk stratification

• Identify and escalate clinical risks, liaising with consultants, anaesthetists, and GPs as required

• Arrange and interpret investigations (e.g. blood tests, ECGs, MRSA screening) in line with protocols

• Provide patient education, advice, and reassurance regarding surgery, anaesthesia, and recovery

• Optimise patients for surgery, including management of long-term conditions and lifestyle advice

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Contribute to service improvement, audits, and quality standards

• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safeguarding, and governance requirements
