As the Public Relations and Content Specialist, you will have a strong background in corporate communications, writing and content creation. This role will play a key part in shaping client narratives, securing high-impact media placements, and elevating thought leadership within the agriculture and food sectors. You’ll have success here if you value clear processes and feel qualified based on having 5+ years of experience in doing the following things:
Develop and execute strategic PR and corporate communications plans for agriculture, food and agri-business clients
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and opinion contributors across trade, national, and regional media
Pitch and place stories, including features, op-eds, and executive thought leadership articles
Draft high-quality press materials, including press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, and executive messaging
Advise clients on corporate communications strategies, including reputation management and crisis communications
Identify timely opportunities for media engagement tied to industry trends, policy developments, and market shifts
Monitor media coverage and provide insights and reporting on PR performance
Collaborate with internal creative, digital, and strategy teams to ensure integrated campaign execution
We train our team to help them succeed, and everyone on our team helps with our success. In this role, you’ll need to come to the table with the following skills and qualifications:
5+ years of experience in public relations or communications, preferably within an agency environment
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
Proven experience in corporate communications and executive positioning
Demonstrated success in earned media and building relationships with journalists
Familiarity with agriculture, agri-business, food systems, or rural industry is strongly preferred
Familiarity with non-profit organizations, associations and/or policy work is considered an asset
Demonstrated relationships with media outlets and journalists. Relationships with B2C media (national + regional) is a strong asset. Relationships with B2C & B2B agriculture media a plus.
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Team player and a critical thinker
