Powertrain Competitive Costing Project Manager

We are looking for a Powertrain Competitive Costing Project Manager to join the Benchmark and Product Intelligence team in the automotive powertrain sector. The main goal of this project is to analyze and compare the costs of powertrain systems and components against competitors, providing strategic insights to optimize design and processes and maintain global competitiveness. This role is part of the R&D and Advanced Engineering Department, based in Valladolid or Madrid .

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop internal Competitive Costing processes and tools.
Collect data for cost analysis using internal and external teardown information.
Identify cost drivers, material choices, manufacturing processes, and sourcing strategies used by competitors.
Maintain a database of benchmarked cost data for current and future projects.
Perform cost assessments for powertrain systems (engines, transmissions, batteries, etc.).
Prepare detailed should-cost analyses and gap analyses.
Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and finance teams to validate assumptions and ensure data accuracy.
Create reports and presentations summarizing findings, cost differentials, and strategic recommendations.

YOUR PROFILE:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience: Minimum 7 years in powertrain cost analysis within the automotive industry.
Expertise in cost benchmarking, teardown analysis, and competitive intelligence.
Proficiency in costing software (preferably Siemens Costing).
Strong analytical skills and experience with cost modeling tools.
Ability to interpret technical and financial data.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Project management experience.
Languages: Fluent English; Spanish and/or French is a plus.
Knowledge of current trends in automotive powertrain.

Additional Information:
