Psychological Dimensions is an innovative, fast-growing, and nationally recognized forensic consulting firm specializing in police and public safety psychology, and we are thrilled to invite applications for our full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship. Our team operates nationwide with primary offices in Atlanta, Denver, and Chicago, offering fellows rich exposure to diverse agencies, cases, and training environments.

About the Fellowship

This one-year, APA-aligned postdoctoral training experience is designed to provide fellows with state-of-the-art education, supervision, and hands-on experience in the rapidly expanding field of Police & Public Safety Psychology. Fellows work under the direct supervision of our licensed Clinical and Training Directors and Board-Certified Police & Public Safety Psychologists, gaining expertise in:

Psychological pre-employment screening

Risk and threat assessment

Police and public safety fitness-for-duty evaluations

Corporate fitness-for-duty evaluations

Critical incident response and debriefing

Specialty unit evaluations (SWAT, Hostage Negotiation, K-9, etc.)

This fellowship prepares emerging psychologists to practice confidently and competently in high-stakes, safety-sensitive settings.

Training, Mentorship, & Professional Development

Training is the foundation of this fellowship. You will receive:

Weekly Individual Supervision

One-on-one supervision with a licensed psychologist specializing in police and public safety psychology.

Monthly Case Consultation

Collaborative review sessions with our team of psychologists to enhance decision-making, accuracy, and defensibility of evaluations.

Didactic & Experiential Training

Participation in relevant coursework

Ride-alongs with law enforcement agencies

Review of current literature in public safety mental health

Attendance at professional conferences and trainings (encouraged and supported)

Research & Data Analysis

Each quarter, fellows have the opportunity to conduct:

Adverse impact analyses

Interrater reliability reviews across evaluators

Additional research projects with opportunities to develop publishable work

Preparation for Board Certification

Our curriculum and supervised hours are intentionally structured to help build the foundation for future ABPP Board Certification in Police & Public Safety Psychology.
The second year of training—post-licensure—includes additional learning opportunities to deepen specialization and prepare for advanced practice and eventual board certification.

Expectations & Licensure Requirements

Fellows are expected to:

Pass the EPPP within 6 months of beginning the fellowship

Obtain state licensure within 14 months

Independently manage time and complete evaluations within supervisory expectations

Function increasingly as a self-sufficient, professional member of the team

Maintain excellent written communication and high-quality documentation

Minimum Qualifications

Prior to beginning the fellowship, candidates must have:

A doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program

Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship

Strong writing, assessment, and psychological evaluation skills

Excellent time management and professional communication abilities

Commitment to learning within a rigorous and highly specialized training environment
