Post Majority Support Services Coordinator
Term: Full-time
Salary Range: $58,670 - $70,060.00 (Depending on education and experience)

The Post Majority Support Services Coordinator will provide direct, culturally safe, trauma-informed support to youth and young adults (ages 18–26) from Whitefish River First Nation who are aging out or have aged out of care. This role is critical in helping youth navigate their transition to adulthood, promoting independence, stability, and reconnection with family, culture, and community. The Post Majority Support Services Coordinator operates within legislative frameworks, organizational policies, and the vision of Whitefish River First Nation to ensure youth thrive in their journey toward self-sufficiency and holistic well-being. In addition, the Post Majority Coordinator will support youth transitioning out of, or under, Extended Society Care, Customary Care, Kinship Care, and Voluntary Youth Services Agreements, including those returning from out-of-community placements.
Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in social services, youth work, or child welfare.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience working with Indigenous youth and in Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
Strong understanding of child welfare systems, Indigenous cultures, and community resources.
Knowledge and understanding of the Whitefish River First Nation community, culture, and language is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and client data systems.
Training and willingness to obtain training in suicide prevention (ASIST or safeTALK), harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, and child welfare transition planning.

Because this role involves sensitive and sometimes emotionally challenging work, we are looking for candidates who demonstrate strong emotional resilience, self‑awareness, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure. Along with the following:
Culturally appropriate, empowering youth to achieve stability and independence.
Knowledge of complex trauma, attachment disruption, grief and loss, and the intergenerational impacts of the child welfare system on First Nations youth.
Develop strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Familiarity with Extended Society Care, Customary Care, Kinship Care, and Voluntary Youth Service Agreements.
Must be comfortable with the holistic approach.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to provide crisis intervention and safety planning for youth experiencing housing instability, mental health challenges, or emergencies outside regular office hours.
Empathetic, culturally sensitive, and community-oriented.
Reliable, proactive, and a positive role model.
Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work with discretion.
Must provide a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
