Overview
The Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) team supports a select group of sophisticated clients with complex financial needs, multi‑asset class portfolios, and long‑term strategic objectives. The Portfolio Analyst plays a pivotal role in delivering analytical depth, investment insight, and operational excellence to drive exceptional client outcomes. Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Analytics & Financial Modeling
Build and maintain detailed financial models to support asset allocation, portfolio construction, cash flow projections and scenario analysis.
Conduct performance attribution, risk analytics, and exposure reporting across multi‑asset portfolios.
Evaluate investment returns using quantitative and qualitative frameworks.
Investment Reporting & Insights
Analyze complex financial data to draw key insights, integrating general investment knowledge and messages from internal investment experts.
Calculate and analyze the performance of investment portfolios, including attribution analysis and benchmarking against relevant indices.
Develop customized dashboards and periodic client reports, and visualizations that translate complex data into key insights and communications.
Review Cidel investment reporting for accuracy and leading the delivery of any custom portfolio analyses; ensure all performance reporting complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Enhance data gathering and reporting processes and workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Portfolio Proposal Development
Create customized portfolio proposals tailored to UHNW clients that articulate objectives, risk profiles, liquidity needs, and long‑term strategies clearly.
Collaborate with Wealth Consultants and investment team to refine proposals and ensure alignment with firm strategy.
Investment Research & Market Monitoring
Conduct ongoing research on macroeconomic trends, asset classes, managers, and investment strategies.
Monitor market developments and provide timely insights to the UHNW team.
Assist in the development of insightful client communications that leverage key insights tailored to the interests & needs of UHNW client base
Client Support & Team Collaboration
Assist in preparing materials for client meetings, reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
Respond to ad‑hoc analytical requests from Wealth Consultants and senior leadership.
Ensure proper investment execution for client allocations, in concert with the Client Service and Operations Teams.
Partner with cross‑functional teams including trading, operations, compliance, and investment teams.
Qualifications
Technical & Analytical Skills
Strong proficiency in financial modeling, portfolio analytics, and quantitative analysis.
Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, OneNote); proficiency in performance measurement tools and software (e.g., Morningstar, FactSet) is an asset
Ability to quickly learn internal proprietary operating systems
Experience with portfolio management systems or investment analytics platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar Direct) is preferred.
Investment Knowledge
Solid understanding of investment concepts including asset allocation, risk management, capital markets, and portfolio theory.
Exposure to multi‑asset class portfolios, alternative investments, or private markets is advantageous.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
Progress toward CFA designation or similar credential is highly valued.
1–4 years of experience in wealth management, asset management, investment banking, corporate development or a related analytical role.
