The Porter is responsible for the complete set-up and tear-down of the venue before, during, and after events. This includes moving, arranging, and placing tables, chairs, décor, and any additional items required to ensure each event is executed seamlessly.This role is accountable for maintaining the overall organization, cleanliness, and upkeep of the event space at all times. Shifts may occur during and outside regular business hours, with start times as early as 6:00 a.m. and end times as late as 3:00 a.m., including occasional overnight shifts.The Porter works collaboratively with the service team to ensure event success, assisting servers as needed and supporting overall venue operations.
The Day to Day:
• Prepare and set up venue according to set plan and client requests, ensuring that every detail both large & small are met
• If required, ensure that the venue is 100% set for the next event if you are the last person/team to leave before a breakfast event
• Lead other staff members to ensure that the setup is being done efficiently & effectively
• Lift and move both heavy and light objects in a safe and timely manner
• Tear down of venue after an event and ensure it is clear and maintained to O&B standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of venue
• Comply with and act in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
• Receive and sign off on materials and shipments from clients and couriers, and let a manager know each time
• Meet, Greet and escort clients from the loading dock, offering assistance were necessary
• Additional duties as assigned or required
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a variable work load, ensuring safe, timely and accurate completion of assigned work
• Able to work independently, and part of a team
• Able to listen and follow clear directions
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
• Available to work mornings, evenings, weekends and/or occasional overnight shifts
• Dependable and Goal oriented
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
