Role Summary

The Policy and Advocacy Manager will lead Pfizer’s external engagement strategy across the NOLA Cluster, serving as a key interface with government, patient organizations, industry associations, and other stakeholders to shape a favorable policy environment and advance equitable patient access. This role combines strategic policy leadership with proactive patient advocacy to ensure that the voices and needs of patients are integrated into policy and business decisions, supporting Pfizer’s purpose to deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives.

Key Responsibilities

Policy and Government Relations (70%)

• Monitor and assess political, regulatory, and healthcare trends to identify opportunities and risks affecting Pfizer’s business in NOLA countries.

• Develop, communicate, and execute a comprehensive policy strategy—short, medium, and long term—that supports business objectives and strengthens Pfizer’s position as a trusted partner.

• Represent Pfizer in industry associations, policy forums, and multi-stakeholder platforms, engaging effectively with policymakers, think tanks, academics, and private-sector leaders.

• Provide strategic counsel to commercial leaders on the impact of the external policy environment on business planning, pricing, access, and public affairs decisions.

• Support external voice on key issues such as health reform, access to medicines, pricing, trade, and innovation through the development of briefing notes, position papers, talking points, and presentations.

Patient Advocacy (30%)

• Build and maintain strong, transparent, and collaborative relationships with patient advocacy groups, NGOs, and civil society organizations across the NOLA cluster.

• Develop and implement a regional patient advocacy strategy aligned with Pfizer’s corporate objectives and the needs of local patient communities.

• Act as a bridge between patients and the company, ensuring that patient insights inform decision-making and that Pfizer remains patient-centric in its external engagements.

• Promote patient education and disease awareness initiatives, in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, to enhance health literacy and access.

• Collect and analyze patient feedback and engagement data to inform advocacy and policy priorities.

• Plan and coordinate advocacy events, campaigns, and stakeholder dialogues to advance patient-centered policies and programs.

Leadership and Compliance

• Coordinate and prepare commercial leaders for external meetings and speaking engagements.

• Ensure strict compliance with Pfizer’s internal policies, ethical standards, and all applicable laws and regulations governing interactions with government and patient organizations.

• Manage allocated budgets responsibly and ensure cost-effective implementation of advocacy initiatives.

• Foster collaboration across business units, policy, communications, medical, and access teams under a “One Pfizer” mindset.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Public Health, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or patient advocacy roles—ideally within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

• Strong understanding of healthcare systems, policy frameworks, and decision-making processes in NOLA countries.

• Proven ability to influence and collaborate across complex internal and external stakeholder networks.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Spanish.

• Demonstrated strategic thinking, executive presence, and ability to navigate ambiguity.

• Strong organizational and planning skills, with a clear orientation to results and patient impact.

• Ability to work independently and under pressure while fostering teamwork and cross-functional alignment.

Core Competencies
