Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing nursing care to clients. Directs, plans, coordinates, monitors and supervises the effective and efficient use of the nursing department. Provides safe behavioral and nursing care with a positive, empathic, and professional attitude. Ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs, and services consistent with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct on-site nursing staff (nurses and RAs) to ensure safe, consistent and high-quality care.
Facilitate staff training and education during monthly department meetings, and as needed or on an individual basis.
Respond to and lead in emergency situations.
Monitor and complete nursing requests within established time limits.
Coordinate with medical director and client primary care physician as needed for continuity of care.
Assist with intake assessments and perform medication reviews, as necessary.
Complete weekly chart audits.
Complete appropriate incident reporting and corrective action as needed.
Provide shift coverage during staffing shortages.
Audits and organizes medication room to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, best practices and to reduce the opportunity for medication errors or diversion.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Active California RN or LVN/LPT license
At least one year of experience in detox, residential treatment or related healthcare setting preferred.
A minimum of two years of supervisory or charge nurse experience required.
Must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, and maintain personal auto insurance coverage.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
Must have a current TB test or chest x-ray.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work well and quickly under pressure both individually and as part of a team.
Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
