General Description
The Residential Plumbing Estimator responds to any and all requests for quotes and potential sales leads for residential Plumbing installations. The Estimator compiles all necessary cost data and translates that into an estimate for the client. They also follow up on all sales leads and post-sale check-ins for quality assurance.
Key accountabilities
- Review residential project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Perform in-home assessments and site visits as needed to evaluate installation requirements.
- Calculate material quantities, equipment selections, labor hours, subcontractor costs, and markups.
- Utilize estimating software and company price books to prepare proposals and customer quotes.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers for updated pricing and availability.
- Present proposals to homeowners and answer technical or pricing questions in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
- Work with the scheduling and operations teams to ensure project timelines and scopes are achievable.
- Collaborate with service and installation departments to confirm field feedback and refine estimating accuracy.
- Track win/loss ratios, profitability trends, and customer satisfaction scores to continuously improve performance.
- Ensure all estimates comply with local building codes, permitting requirements, and company standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
Work experience and education requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in residential Plumbing estimating, design, or installation preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of residential water supply.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with homeowners and internal teams.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Backflow certification or Plumbing technician background is a plus.
