Plumbing Apprentice

The Plumbing Apprentice will work alongside experienced plumbers to learn the trade and gain practical experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and opportunities for career advancement in the plumbing industry.

Responsibilities/Duties

Work under the supervision of licensed plumbers to assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems.

Learn and apply plumbing techniques, like pipe cutting, soldering, brazing, threading, and fittings assembly.

Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the layout of plumbing systems.

Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning drains, inspecting pipes for leaks or corrosion, and testing plumbing fixtures for proper functionality.

Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site, including wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Participate in training programs, workshops, and continuing education courses to enhance plumbing knowledge and skills and stay updated on industry trends and regulations.

Familiarize yourself with local plumbing codes, regulations, and permit requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable standards in all plumbing work.

Gain proficiency in the safe operation of hand and power tools commonly used in plumbing work, including wrenches, pipe cutters, drills, saws, and augers.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

Competent, responsible, organized and team oriented.

Strong communication skills and math skills.

Ability to travel to job sites and locations as needed in multiple states.

Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions and confined spaces.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Interest in pursuing a career in the plumbing industry.

Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.

Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions.
