Job Description

Role:
• We are seeking experienced Platform & SRE engineer to design, develop, and maintain our large-scale database and search infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in date base systems, search technologies and software engineering.
• The Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, performance, and reliability of our database and search systems, developing new features and evaluations of new technologies to support our growing user base.

Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain high-available, scalable large-scale databases and search platforms using technologies like PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch
• Design and implement data integration and migration pipelines to ingest data from various data integration points including APIs, files, and/or other databases
• Improve platform availability and performance through use of SRE practices
• Conduct incident management, including troubleshooting, resolution and post-mortem of the database and search platforms
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers as a subject matter expert in database and search platform engineering
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including projects, engineering, and operations to ensure platform and product usability and alignment to organisation goals

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications):
• Background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience with database systems, including relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Elasticsearch)
• Proficiency in programming languages, including Bash, Go, Java, Python
• Experience in cloud-native technologies for container orchestrations, CI/CD, infrastructure automations and observability
• Experience with data modelling, schema design, performance tuning and data migration

Nice to Have:
• Experience in managing physical and virtual infrastructures
• Experience in managing cloud database and search services using AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Database Services
